Adam couldn’t believe that Nedra had left the Peninsula. Unable to get her on her cell phone he called her house and was told that she was in New York with her husband. He didn’t accept the news well. Had the kiss that they shared driven her back to Sinclair? Perhaps she flew east to tell him that she was beginning to feel something for another man. Adam wasn’t sure, but he could hope.

After he kissed her, he feigned shock and told her that he didn’t know what had gotten into him. He used the excitement of the moment as an excuse. She had accepted his explanation graciously.

Her reaction hadn’t surprised him. He would have been disappointed if she had reacted differently. Nedra was a lady. She was a good woman, hardly the type to jump into bed with just any man.

If her husband was concerned about her welfare, he wouldn’t have spent so much time away from her in the first place. There was no doubt that Sinclair Reasoner didn’t deserve her.

Adam wanted Nedra and saw no reason why he shouldn’t have her. That meant there was only one thing to do. The contract on Brandon Plaine might have been cancelled, but that didn’t mean that another target couldn’t take his place. Nedra’s husband was the perfect replacement. The killer in him would do this one for the fun of it. All that was needed was a plan.
